Olivia Munn Joins Johnny Depp in David Koepp's 'Mortdecai' Comedy

Olivia Munn
Since her days at G4, Olivia Munn has made a decent name for herself as a film and TV star. From delivering satire on "The Daily Show" to talking fast on the Aaron Sorkin scripted "The Newsroom" and bit parts in Date Night and Iron Man 2, Munn is currently in talks to join Mortdecai, the crime comedy based on Kyril Bonfiglioli's The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, the author's final novel which remained unfinished until satirist and parodist Craig Brown completed it. Though her role is unknown, this is poised to be one of her highest profile jobs with Johnny Depp in the lead role of the David Koepp directed film.
Considering the only cast members on board are Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor, we're betting Munn's roles is pretty sizable. Munn has taking roles larger than the aforementioned brief appearances on the big screen, but they have been in lackluster comedies like The Babymakers andFreeloaders, so she's still looking for some kind of big screen breakthrough performance, and this could be it. Munn has shown skills in comedy and drama on "The Newsroom," and with a somte time, she just might be a leading lady.
